My Rating: 10/10 - Awesome
It doesn't get any better than this! What a phenomenal movie, there is so much action, adventure and excitement in so little time you'll find yourself glued to your seat oooing and aaahing uncontrollably as the sublime plot unfolds.
The gang's back and pixar have found a winner with this plot by having the toy's owner Andy age alongside the time gap between movies. This opens up an entirely new unexplored emotional range for the toys and in succession a heart rending experience for people of all ages. Andy is growing up and moving on and the toys find themselves unsure of their future this leads to disagreement and uncertainty and starts us off on a whirlwind adventure of the utmost epic proportions.
The film travels all over, with the main portion of the movie contained with in the 'delightful' sunnyside nursery. Upon their arrival the toys think all their dreams have come true, but things quite swiftly take a turn for the worse. I won't say anymore regarding sunnyside as i certainly wouldn't want to spoil the fantastic occurences and the clever use of baddies.
The plot does have one minor issue, the over arching story line remains the same as it was all the way back in toy story 1. Something happens to pull the toys away from home and they then spend the rest of the movie on an adventure to return. However this really is a case of if it isn't broke don't fix it. The scenarios with which this simple story of being lost and returning home have seen through out the three toy story movies continues to be enchanting and different. There is no slow point nor anything that feels retread. In short even with the similarity it is of such quality and a high level of fun why care?!
Lot's of new characters turn up with some absolute crackers. Barbie and Ken provide some of the stand out hilarious moments through out the movie alongside the ever grouchy and consistently fantastic humour that emanates from mr potato head and his various guies' through out.
The film is an utter emotional roller coaster. You'll be sent to the depths of sadness and happiness as the film progress and there are some sensational low and high moments as the film reaches it's final acts. One moment strongly stood out, the consistently plucky and tenacious toys reach a point where they feel they can go no further and join hands in submission to their impending doom. This struck such an emotional note through out the cinema and few films have such the capacity needless to say you'll know what i mean when you see it.
Something Good:
Seriously all of it. Utter quality.
Something Bad:
My only issue was the retread of the same ideas but i shouldn't even put that here it's too good to really bother about.
Better Than:
Toy Story 1 & 2
Also Better Than:
UP
Overall: Don't treat this as a kids film, it is sublime and has already knocked inception of the top spot for my film of the year. Just watch it and bask in the sheer joy that it brings.

TOY STORY 3 - MAGNUM
My Rating 10/10 – FUCK YEAH!!!
Woody and Buzz just took a dump on Inception, A GIANT DUMP!!!
Trilogies’ it’s rare when you come across one that has a second sequel that lives up to and in this case surpasses the original, Star Wars, Godfather, Back to the Future, The Matrix(Good God what the fuck happened with that one) – let’s face it no trilogy is perfect; but then Disney Pixar come along and fuck all over them rules, by creating nothing short of a masterpiece.
For me the summer of 2010 for cinema has so far been pretty shit, last year I had the likes of Star Trek, Drag me to Hell and Terminator, so far this year I’ve watched some crap I’d rather forget but then Toy Story 3 finally arrived to save the day, god bless you Pixar – you make this world a brighter place.
The story revolves around Woody, Buzz and the rest of the gang finding themselves not being played with any more as their owner Andy is all grown up ready to go to college. Misplaced in the wrong box that was meant to go in the attic – they end up in a Day-care centre with a bunch of other toys – run by an overfriendly teddy bear (obvious Bad guy spotted a mile off). Joining them is Ken, Barbie’s other half voiced by Michael Keaton who is pure genius in the role – probably his best work since Beetlejuice. It’s up to our favourite toys to plan a great escape from the sinister characters keeping them prisoner at the Day-care and I mean SINISTER – Monkey with evil eyes, a scary looking Baby Doll – I’d rather be thrown in a cell with T-Bag from Prison Break than that scary baby :(
The film is just pure laughs from start to finish – containing classic moments as Mr ‘Tortilla’ Potato Head, a Spanish Buzz Lightyear and Ken modelling his many outfits; but it’s not just the comedy that hooks you in – it’s the adventure and the honest emotion of the film that reaches out to everyone and the final couple of scenes are the most heart rending stuff I have ever seen, I’d have to admit that there might of been a tear shed – but I probably just had something in my eye :S
MAGNUMS VERDICT: This film is so fucking good – it’s even better than Barbie’s arse and believe me that was pretty damn sweet!
PEACE.

INCEPTION - MAGNUM
My Rating 2/10 – It only gets 2 because Tom Hardy is in it!
COME BACK MR PREDATOR, ALL IS FORGIVEN.
Geez what a load of bullshit that was and £11.50 for an IMAX ticket, Christopher Nolan still owes me my money back for watching his bore fest that was The Dark Knight, now he gives me this crap.
Yeah that’s right people Magnum here isn’t a sheep and won’t jump on the bandwagon for what is basically a slow, boring and complicated heist movie that makes as much sense as the heist in Oceans Twelve, at least in that film I know they were after some stupid egg, in this film I forgot half way through what they were actually after – that’s how entertaining this piece of shit really is.
I thought I was going to love this film, I thought it was going to have me glued to my seat and twist my brain as much as Nolan’s Memento did – did it balls, instead I was sitting there hoping to fall asleep and dream of a better film – preferably porn.
The first half of the film introduces the audience to the dream world, the main players and the whole concept behind the inception. A bit hard to grasp at first, but soon begins to make sense and sets up what could have been quite an intriguing film.
Leonardo DiCaprio’s character has to do one last job for this business man who promises him if he succeeds he will allow DiCaprio’s character back onto American soil so he can see his kids once again – why this business guy seems to be the world’s police is beyond me – oh that’s right he’s rich, rich people can do whatever the fuck they want!
Not so complicated so far yeah – but then the second half of the film is the actual heist where Leo and the gang have to enter the dreams of some guy to get some crap from his head where they travel from different dreams in a dream and all that bollocks...yawn. Some characters are driving vans, some are floating about corridors and some are just blasting the shit out of the place. The best bit of this overdrawn dream sequence is Tom Hardy showing us his C.O.D Modern Warfare skills on some dream bad guys.
In the end you’re left with the question that is so damn obvious that they were going to leave there for you to question – because it’s a film about DREAMS, but to be honest I didn’t care, I was just happy it was over; I’m more bothered to know whether Harrison Ford’s Character in Blade Runner was a replicant or not.
MAGNUMS VERDICT: If I was in a coma and dreaming this shit my family better turn that goddamn life support machine off!!!
PEACE
P.S HAPPY 21st Emil

INCEPTION - El Papa Diablo
I loved it to put it simply, it is the best film of the year so far. It is a film that will divide people, as my esteemed collogue Quizli so eloquently pointed out. The concept is mind bending indeed but a very interesting one, as everyone wakes from a dream and wonders what the fuck just happened and sometimes has to grab on to something to make sure where you are is actually reality, kind of like a mental acid trip (that's another story kids). The cast is great, not one weak link, Nolan has a habit for inspired casting, here he has possibly assembled his best cast. Di Caprio plays Cobb the emotional core, the man looking for a way to redemption. Around him is a great cast that takes you on this journey, Gordon Levitt is on all action side kick duty, Ellen Page is almost Cobbs conscience, Collitard is the lost wife, Murphy is the vunrable mark , Watanabe is the money man but Tom Hardy is the real stand out here, charming his way through every scene and kicking some anus when called upon (should be the next Bond). The ideas that are explored in this film are maybe a tad to clever for a balls out summer blockbuster, like say the terrible Iron Man 2 (Magnum, poor taste) which could hamper the film with certain audiences, so don't go and watch this if you're a total munter basically.
It works on different levels, the dreams are almost small films themselevs , one level a chase movie, another a mind and gravity bending Sci Fi the last a big Bond style action movie all wrapped in to a subconscious heist flick, I know what you're thinking, you just came right, in your pants, go and change them.
It does have its downers and is by no means perfect a few elements could have been explained in more detail and a few ends tied up better but other than that, its good, very good.
When you leave the cinema, love it or hate it, you will be thinking about it. And when you rest your weary head, you'll wonder what your dreams will bring, for me that is a sign of a master film maker at work. The ability to have an effect on an audience after you leave the cinema is a sign of greatness, we are witnessing greatness when we go to see Nolan's films. Not many directors can boast the CV that Mr Nolan is packing.
I loved it and after this I can't wait for the 3rd Batman movie
9/10
Much love El Papa Diablo
P.S Magnum, go fuck yourself

INCEPTION - Steel
My Rating: 9/10
Christopher Nolan opens his epic, exploration of the mind thriller with impact and substance much as he did with the sublime 'THE DARK KNIGHT". Leonardo decaprio is on top form playing Mr Cobb a dream thief, in the film referred to as an extractor. He deals very well with the almost bi-polar nature of the character and provides it with real depth whilst allowing the insecurities and flaws to shine out amongst the characters brash, arrogant persona.
The support cast all provide an array of excellent roles, although it can at times be felt that Ellen Page's character is used as a vessel to explain some of the more intrinsic details of the over arching back story surrounding the art of Extraction and subsequently Inception. However my highest praise must go to both Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Tom Hardy for providing sensational performances as both Arthur and Eames. It was especially nice to see Joseph albeit for one cheesy misplaced line ('Paradox') playing a significantly different role from any he has previously.
The Action is of great quality however don't expect a non-stop gun fight as the posters may suggest, it is a great deal more controlled but has a far greater impact on the film as a whole thanks to this. The plot in itself is magnificently well crafted, with several shocking revelations and some fantastic highs and lows. My only criticism would be that due to the nature of the plot and the speed through which the story progresses, key details can occasionally get lost amongst all the excitement and tension.
It's worth noting that the direction is excellent and you'll be surprised as to how they have achieved some of the scenes containing the most mind bending of special effects. One key scene springs to mind but so as not to spoil the plot it simply is unlike anything you will have seen in a movie before. The last scene will leave you gasping and you are no doubt sure to be accompanied by the rest of the audience watching it with you, much as we were.
Something Good:
Sensational Plot, Sublime Acting, Excellent action and creative direction and effects.
Something Bad:
A few loose ends to the plot and the subsequent amount of detail to fully understand the film can be a little bit daunting.
Almost as good as:
THE DARK KNIGHT
Better Than:
BATMAN BEGINS
Overall: An absolute must watch. FILM OF THE YEAR SO FAR!
