INCEPTION - El Papa Diablo

I loved it to put it simply, it is the best film of the year so far. It is a film that will divide people, as my esteemed collogue Quizli so eloquently pointed out. The concept is mind bending indeed but a very interesting one, as everyone wakes from a dream and wonders what the fuck just happened and sometimes has to grab on to something to make sure where you are is actually reality, kind of like a mental acid trip (that's another story kids). The cast is great, not one weak link, Nolan has a habit for inspired casting, here he has possibly assembled his best cast. Di Caprio plays Cobb the emotional core, the man looking for a way to redemption. Around him is a great cast that takes you on this journey, Gordon Levitt is on all action side kick duty, Ellen Page is almost Cobbs conscience, Collitard is the lost wife, Murphy is the vunrable mark , Watanabe is the money man but Tom Hardy is the real stand out here, charming his way through every scene and kicking some anus when called upon (should be the next Bond). The ideas that are explored in this film are maybe a tad to clever for a balls out summer blockbuster, like say the terrible Iron Man 2 (Magnum, poor taste) which could hamper the film with certain audiences, so don't go and watch this if you're a total munter basically.

It works on different levels, the dreams are almost small films themselevs , one level a chase movie, another a mind and gravity bending Sci Fi the last a big Bond style action movie all wrapped in to a subconscious heist flick, I know what you're thinking, you just came right, in your pants, go and change them.

It does have its downers and is by no means perfect a few elements could have been explained in more detail and a few ends tied up better but other than that, its good, very good.

When you leave the cinema, love it or hate it, you will be thinking about it. And when you rest your weary head, you'll wonder what your dreams will bring, for me that is a sign of a master film maker at work. The ability to have an effect on an audience after you leave the cinema is a sign of greatness, we are witnessing greatness when we go to see Nolan's films. Not many directors can boast the CV that Mr Nolan is packing.

I loved it and after this I can't wait for the 3rd Batman movie

9/10

Much love El Papa Diablo

P.S Magnum, go fuck yourself
